Word Games for Schools

A fun picture-matching game for children to help researchers find out what words children know at different ages.

Your child is eligible to take part in the study if:

  • They have just finished either Year 1 or Year 5 in England or Wales.
  • They speak British English as their first language.

By taking part in this study, you and your child will be helping us to answer key questions about children’s language skills. This could, in time, help us find effective ways to identify and help children who are falling behind.

During the study, your child will play a picture matching game with Magda the Magnificent Dragon. The game lasts around 15 minutes and at the end you will be able to download a certificate showing that your child has contributed to science! We will also ask you to provide a few details about your child before they start the game.

For each child that takes part, we will donate £2.50 to the school library. Simply enter your school’s promo code at the end of the experiment to raise funds for new books!

Get in touch with the researchers or the school if you are unsure what promo code to use.
